p>The Beano's Dennis, Gnasher and Walter join Minecraft By Emily Thomas Newsbeat reporter
/p>
p>Minecraft players need to watch out for "softy" Walter and his stinky pants.
/p>
p>Walter, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher, from The Beano, can now be added to PC versions of the game.
/p>
p>Gnasher can be turned into as a sausage by players, and all of Dennis the pranks, such as catapults and stink bombs, are a possibility to use.
/p>
p>It's part of Beano's larger plans to expand into digital. The mod was developed in partnership between the cartoonist and Frima Studios, which is a Canadian multiplatform game creator.
/p>
p>Mark Cotton, who is the Beano's chief digital officer Mark Cotton, who is leading the Beano's digital transformations, said to Newsbeat: "If you talk to any 7-11-year-old child, Minecraft is pretty much their most fervent love and passion."
/p>
p>Mark says the game is an "extension" of the comic and an attempt to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for children.
/p>
p>He states that 32,000 comics are sold each week of the Beano which is an impressive figure.
/p>
p>But it's still far less than the two million sold during the peak of the magazines.
/p>
p>"We are very aware kids today have a passion for digital," Mark says. Mark.
/p>
p>"We must make The Beano a 360-degree brand, where Dennis and Gnasher are everywhere the children are, instead of expecting them to visit our store.
/p>
p>"So we're currently working on a variety of initiatives over the next three to six months."
/p>
p>Among them are puzzle games as well as interactive comics and an "action 3-D game for children".
/p>
p>DC Thompson, The Beano's publisher has already expanded the brand to a TV show and a photo-sharing app along with YouTube channel.

p>The comic has been around since 1938, and has a lot of adult fans. The Beano characters could also make an appearances in adult-oriented games, such as Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto.
/p>
p>"No. Mark says, "No.
/p>
p>"We're focusing on the 7 to 11-year-old digital product - for the moment, digital for us is about engaging with children and knowing their interests."
/p>
p>In order to accomplish this, they've been consulting an advisory group of 10 7 to 11-year-old Beano and Minecraft fans throughout the development process.
/p>
p>Minnie the Minx
/p>
p>"We basically asked children, 'If Beano was to appear in Minecraft What would it look like?
/p>
p>"This was their first step towards imagining what they desired. Evidently, their imaginations go a lot further than what we can do for the time being.
/p>
p>"But they wanted pranks They wanted Walter they wanted Gnasher, they wanted to dress as Dennis, and that's the thing we've given them.
/p>
p>"We'll continue to communicate with them. We'd like to expand this and build Beanotown so that kids can be creative.
/p>
p>"Minecraft is so beloved because it gives power to children. We cannot force children to do something, but they'd be resistant.
/p>
p>Are there any other characters that might be allowed in?
/p>
p>Mark says, "We certainly want to extend it."
/p>
p>"Minnie the Minx is the most obvious character and the one that the kids have been asking about, so that's what I'd probably consider next."
